About Julio R. "Zorro" Lopez Jr.
Zorro is a seasoned executive leader, strategic advisor, and retired military officer with more than 30 years of experience leading complex operations, high-performing teams, and mission-critical initiatives across the defense, aerospace, and national security sectors.
Before joining Kristin Goodwin Consulting, Zorro served in senior leadership roles at Tecolote Research, where he advised commanders and executives across the U.S. Space Force, U.S. Space Command, and Joint Task Force–Space Defense. His work included strategic planning, portfolio management, executive communications, risk analysis, and operational oversight for some of the nation's most advanced space, cyber, and defense programs.
A retired U.S. Air Force Colonel and former Army officer, Zorro spent more than two decades leading organizations responsible for strategic planning, combat operations, force generation, and humanitarian response. Throughout his military career, he commanded units at multiple levels, directed large-scale programs supporting thousands of personnel, and led rescue and recovery missions around the world. His leadership experience includes operations supporting Iraq, Kosovo, Haiti, Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Floyd, and numerous humanitarian and disaster response efforts.
Known for his calm leadership under pressure, strategic thinking, and ability to bring clarity to complex challenges, Zorro has built a career helping leaders navigate uncertainty, align teams, and execute with confidence. At Kristin Goodwin Consulting, he leverages his extensive operational and leadership experience to help organizations strengthen decision-making, improve execution, and build resilient leadership cultures capable of thriving in high-stakes environments.
He also serves as a docent at the National Museum of World War II Aviation in Colorado Springs. When he's not advising leaders and organizations, Zorro can often be found on the golf course, where he enjoys bringing the same focus, discipline, and good humor that have defined his career in service and leadership.
